So you don't confuse them with mountains.
I don't like underwear much. Well, that's not quite true. I quite like pants, but when it comes to bras, on the whole I find them pretty damn uncomfortable. I wear them, obviously, and have a lot of pretty ones, but quite often, especially when working on an essay or, as today, revising, I whip it off and just wear a tshirt. I needed to go to the kitchen earlier and debated covering up some more before doing so, incase I bumped into one of the boys.
The reason for this is nipplage. On the whole, I don't think nipples are very attractive, and I don't think anyone wants to see mine through my top or whatever. I'm going to ignore the fact that breasts, and therefore nipples, are designed to feed babies, and are not just for the visual and tactile pleasures of men (or women, whatever floats your boat). What I'm wondering is; are nipples attractive? And does anyone want to see your breasts bouncing under a tshirt or whatever, or do they look best when held firmly in place with smooth, nipple-free lines?
Thinking about this, I watched an episode of Sex and the City. In it, Samantha advocates the use of fake nipples to attract men. Miranda tries them on in a bar and suddenly gets a hell of a lot more attention. And yes, you really can buy them. In my research, I also came across a website detailing "how to make your nipples look larger"! The methods listed include pinching them, using ice cubes on them, or consulting a plastic surgeon. Nipple enlargement surgery?! Seriously?!
So what do we think? Are nipples the next best thing, or are they best kept under wraps?

oh yeah you not wearing a bra would be hot dear. dont ask why it just would be. possibly just the mental image. the nipples are linked in a blokes mind to sex and nudity, hence makes them all horny (and stopping me from working, damn mental image)
i mean for day to day being out i guess suppoert would be for the best but jsut in a room or around the house, its just plain hot!
It's turn on for guys, isn't it. That I can almost see them but not quite but nearly...dribble dribble etc
Ok, so maybe a slight generalisation but I think it's not so general ;o)
Marilyn Monroe used to sew buttons into her tops to make her nipples look larger that's was arugably for men's benefit.
I've not really thought about it, but I'd say kept underwraps than hanging out for the world and his son to gawp at.
haha it is the mystery but with the clear reminder of them being there i agree hannah. but i dont dribble... well except maybe over claire... but she is special!
Oh Ben, you just totally fulfilled Hannah's stereotype!
Hannah, I'm so glad you commented...a certain person told me that this post was embarrassing to read...oopsie!
I didn't know that about Marilyn Monroe, but I guess that in conjunction with the sale of these fake-nipples, it shows that there must be men who like it (oh, and Ben's testimony).
Do you worry about people gawping at you if you go bra-less?
I suppose I'm a little conscious of it, I only generally do it in the house like you when I'm not needing to get dressed properly...tshirt, pjs etc but then not so much as it's a house full of girls and we don't care about stuff like that
blokes, on the other hand.. :oP
I'm not sure I'd be brave enough to go out and about bra-less, I'm too prudy and english..
When I was home and revising I nipped into town (5ish minute drive) for essentials such as coloured felt tip pens and funky paper, and didn't think to put a bra on. 2 seconds after getting out of the car, I realised people (men and women) were staring. The women not in a friendly way.
I'm a bellringer and a lot of women go bra-less if they're going to ring for several hours straight, and I know why; the skin actually gets rubbed away and it stings like hell! But it makes for a lot of partially horny men...
Hahaha, this post is hilarious!
I never go out braless. But is it better to go out in only underwear with nipples covered, or to not wear underwear with nipples visible, but be covered up otherwise?
Ooh, tough call, Flix! I always think that underwear is just like wearing a bikini and so not THAT much of a big issue, really. I think, in a particular situation (ie. not when snowing), I'd be more comfortable in underwear and nothing else than something which really obviously showed my nipples.
(As a girl I don't feel too awkward about adding my tuppence-worth :-) )
I wouldn't go out bra-less, or wander around the house with my male housemates at home without at least a support vest on under pyjamas. Having said that, at home-home or in all-female environments in public (youth hostel bathrooms, for instance) I'm quite happy wandering about in a bra while washing or whatever, so it isn't entirely logical.
There's one morning a week where timetable is such that I'm the only person in the house for two hours. The freedom to not have to worry about who sees my underwear is brilliant!
Lol, Lucy, does that mean you just wander 'round the house in your underwear when no-one is around?
I always wear a bra, mainly because I'm so conscious of the size and shape of my boobs (meanly small). If I'm wearing my pyjamas thta's different obviously, but usually if I'm sleeping over in company then I'll wear a bra and t-shirt to sleep in anyway! Usually not even my family sees me without a bra and I CERTAINLY wouldn't go out of hte house without!
But this isn't a nipple-related fear, it's more a body-consciousness issue. However I have no qualms whatsoever about getting my legs out.
And yes, being slightly conscious of nipples is something of a turn-on, I can see that...!
And I'd certainly agree that underwear = bikini = no big deal.
The whole nipple thing doesn't really do much for me, I have to say. If I notice that someone's nipples are visible, the thought pattern registers that they probably aren't wearing a bra and then it moves on to whatever thought randomly pops into my head next. Pretty indifferent really. My two pence.
Flix: No-one will ever find out! :-)
I sense Callan getting awkward and embarrassed...
Me too, Lucy, though I'm not sure why...!
Yeah, I mean that "men think about sex every seven seconds" thing is such a fallacy ;o)
It's weird, blogs give an insight into other people's minds that you'd never see in usual company :oP
I don't generally wander around the house in underwear. I sometimes come across half-naked men on the stairs, though. It's hard for a girl to be half-naked without it seeming strange...
Yes, my boy housemates come out of the bathroom only wearing a towel, and a few times I've walked in on one of them cooking wearing just boxers. I think they'd find it odd if I took up cooking in a bra, pants and hold-ups...
And rest assured that if you spoke to me in 'real life', I'd talk about this stuff then too...clearly I am far too open!!
hehe claire is telling the truth. and this is me toned down. it realy is. give me a few drinks and god it gets bad....(claire can vouche for this)
